Three Things to Know about DC Public Charter School Enrollment

The DC Government released preliminary enrollment figures for DC schools today.  These figures are subject to audit and final numbers will get released in early 2018.

Today’s release shows the number of students enrolled in all public schools (including public and public charter schools) increased by 1.6 percent, or 1,476 students, with total enrollment growing to 91,537 this year. This is the ninth year in a row public school enrollment has grown.  Since 2009 public school enrollment has increased by more than 20,000 students.

This increase in public school enrollment shows that the city’s investments in education are working – more families are sending their children to a public school.

“Credit goes to the school leaders and teachers around the city who work hard every day to educate the District’s public school students,” said Darren Woodruff, Board Chair of the DC Public Charter School Board.
