Rainbow Graduation Honors the Class of 2025

September 2, 2025

As the new school year gets underway, one final celebration marked the start of the season: the Rainbow Graduation, honoring 51 graduates from 10 DC public charter schools. Family, friends, educators, and community leaders gathered to honor the hard work, determination, and dreams that brought each graduate to this milestone moment.

Rainbow Graduation events are held during the summer for students who needed to complete coursework during the summer months or who had other reasons for missing their school’s spring ceremony. This makes the event even more meaningful, as it marks the final triumph in their high school journey.

The event, sponsored by DC PCSB and the DC Charter School Alliance, was held Aug. 14 at the MLK Library. Each graduate was recognized for their outstanding accomplishments. The speakers expressed pride in the graduates’ achievements and excitement for the future ahead.

The ceremony was filled with inspiring moments that included words of encouragement from Dr. Antoinette Mitchell, State Superintendent, Office of the State Superintendent of Education, conferring of the diplomas by Dr. Michelle Walker-Davis, Executive Director, DC Public Charter School Board, and the presentation of graduates was done by DC PCSB Board Chair Shantelle Wright.

Want to feel the excitement for yourself? You can hear directly from the graduates and their families in this video and on our social media platforms. Their words tell the story better than anything else, stories of resilience, pride, and endless possibility.

Congratulations graduates!
