Typically, a school visit starts at 9:30 a.m., with Dr. Walker-Davis and a few of her colleagues will begin their journey together around the school with the school leader.
As she roams the hallways, discussing schools’ programs with their executive team, she’s greeted with words of encouragement and affirmations posted on the walls to motivate scholars at this particular school. It isn’t uncommon to see quotes from historical figures across eras, gentle reminders of self-importance, and even student celebrations like college acceptance letters, attendance highlights, and more.
The real magic happens inside the classroom. There, Dr. Walker-Davis observes scholars fully engaged in their learning, working on assignments, engaging in conversations with their classmates, and most importantly, smiling as they learn new concepts.
As Dr. Walker-Davis walks through the classroom, she chats with students about their work, and they excitedly explain everything they are learning. At the same time, she sees teachers in action, bringing creativity and passion to every lesson as they educate the next generation of leaders.
After visiting classrooms, Dr. Walker-Davis sits down with the leaders of the school to discuss their unique programs, financials, attendance, academics, and more.
At the end of each visit, school leadership and DC PCSB leadership take a group photo to capture a moment of collaboration and celebration.
