There are at least 2,759 open seats available at 29 DC public charter school campuses, after the first round of the My School DC lottery. Of these, 8 percent are at Tier 1 schools.

More open seats are available at 9th and Prek3 than other grades with 408 and 271 seats each.

Meanwhile, 8,526 students are on waitlists to attend one or more participating public charter schools in the upcoming school year, an 18% increase over last year’s 7,205 students. Waitlist data can be found here.

“While demand for public charters schools remains high, there are still slots available for this fall,” said Scott Pearson, Executive Director of the DC Public Charter School Board.  “We expect all schools to be filled when the fall semester begins.”

A listing of the open seats at these 29 public charter schools can be found here.  For the most up-to-date results at these and the 112 public charters in DC, students and parents are encouraged to contact individual schools.

More results from My School DC’s second round of the lottery will be released after Round 2 results become available on May 29.
