Notice of Petition to Amend Charter - Grade Levels Served

Due Date

September 21, 2015

Vote Date

October 26, 2015

Summary

The District of Columbia Public Charter School Board (“PCSB”) announces an opportunity for the public to submit comment on the intent of Rocketship DC Public Charter School (“Rocketship PCS”) to amend its grade levels to be served to include prekindergarten-3 (“PK3”) and prekindergarten-4 (“PK4) beginning in SY 2016-2017.

Rocketship PCS is a new charter school that is scheduled to open in SY 2016-2017.  The school is currently approved to serve students in grades kindergarten through fifth, but would like to expand its existing charter to include grades PK3 and PK4 so its students may have an opportunity for a stable continuation of services during their elementary school experience.  If approved, Rocketship PCS is planning to contract with AppleTree Institute to provide educational services for Rocketship students in grades PK3 and PK4.

Pursuant to the School Reform Act, D.C. Code 38-1802 et seq., a charter school must submit a petition to revise its charter, which includes its grade levels served.
