Tamara Lumpkin, deputy executive director of the DC Public Charter School Board (PCSB) announced today that she will step down from her post effective January 13, 2012. Lumpkin oversaw the growth of the charter school movement in Washington, DC from eight schools to 53 charter schools in PCSB’s portfolio.

Parents, students or teachers considering charter schools for next fall should check out the D.C. Public Charter School Recruitment Expo which takes place Saturday January 7, 2012 from 12 noon – 4:00 pm at the Washington Convention Center.

The 3rd Annual DC Public Charter School Recruitment Expo set for Saturday, January 7th, 2012 (12 noon - 4 p.m.) at the Washington Convention Center will bring together the local charter school community, parents, prospective teachers, community members and vendors.

The DC Public Charter School Board announced that the unaudited enrollment count for the 2011-2012 school year is 32,009, a nine percent increase over last year’s enrollment of 29,366.
