The District of Columbia Court of Appeals today upheld the DC Public Charter School Board (PCSB)’s August 2010 decision to revoke the charter of KAMIT Public Charter School. The appellate court affirmed that PCSB has an express duty and responsibility to exercise its expertise in making educational judgments on whether to revoke a school’s charter.

U.S. District Court Judge Paul Friedman issued an order in the case Petties, et al. v. The District of Columbia, et al. on November 9, 2012, that a copy of this notice be posted in all public schools in the District of Columbia by November 15, 2012.

The 2012 four-year graduation rate for DC public charter high school students is 76.7% which far exceeds the state’s target of 63%, as committed to in its federally approved Elementary and Secondary Education Act (ESEA) Flexibility Waiver.
