Chief of Staff

Two Rivers Public Charter School is searching for a Chief of Staff with excellent interpersonal communication skills and experience leading initiatives to increase operational efficiency and to provide management-level support for its employees. Responsibilities associated with this position include cross-departmental project management, developing and maintaining knowledge-management systems, and implementing best practices for organization-wide projects and initiatives. 

Background

Two Rivers Public Charter School is a network of high-performing, in-demand schools dedicated to nurturing a diverse group of students to become lifelong, active participants in their own education, develop a sense of self and community, and become responsible and compassionate members of society. Two Rivers employs 140 staff members on three campuses to serve over 900 preschool to eighth grade students. It is nationally recognized for its progressive learning model, positive adult community, success at closing the achievement gap, and innovative special education program.

The curriculum at Two Rivers is rigorous, standards-based, and provides opportunities for students to excel in all areas. Two Rivers uses EL Education, an educational model that emphasizes interactive, hands-on, project-based learning. The school focuses on the whole child, recognizing the importance of character education and the social-emotional needs of children while helping them achieve academic excellence. An integrated arts program and a content-based Spanish program augment the school’s demanding academic program. These elements come together through learning expeditions that allow students to incorporate and apply their classroom learning through real-world experiences.

Responsibilities

General responsibilities of the Chief of Staff include the following:

Organizational Effectiveness

Identify opportunities for, strengthen, lead, and manage systems that allow us to live our mission at a larger size, including systems for goal-setting, progress monitoring, and shared accountability;
Lead processes to ensure that critical network-wide initiatives are communicated clearly and executed effectively; identify and manage key stakeholders;
Support the Executive Director in coordinating and leading meetings of leadership teams;
Partner with the Executive Director and Chief Financial Officer to plan and develop materials for Board meetings.

Project Management

Lead assigned projects to completion in a time-sensitive and budget-conscious way;
Measure project performance and report results to key leadership and network staff;
Manage distribution of resources for organization-wide projects and initiatives;
Evaluate organizational practices and relationships for efficiency and consistency with school mission;
Write reports and prepare documents for external accountability.

Data Systems

Build and oversee systems to ensure that all staff members have access to timely, accurate programmatic data;
Manage staff, projects, and vendors associated with student information system(s), including internal and external reporting requirements;
Oversee the structure, distribution, and use of the network-wide dashboard.

Strategic Planning

Partner with the Executive Director for strategic planning initiatives;
Serve as a thought-partner for the Executive Director; 
Provide counsel and maintain confidentiality.

Qualifications

Candidates must possess the following skills and qualities to receive consideration for this position: 

Belief in the mission and educational model of Two Rivers Public Charter School;
Exceptional written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills; 
Strong editing and proofreading skills;
Ability to collaborate with cross-departmental teams to achieve common goals; 
Ability to manage time effectively while multitasking.

Candidates must meet the following educational and experience-based requirements to receive consideration for this position: 

B.A. or B.S. is required for this position; M.S. or M.A. degree preferred; 
2 years of experience providing management-level support to senior leadership, preferably within an education or non-profit organization setting; 
2 years of experience managing projects and outcomes within an educational or non-profit organizational setting;
2 years of experience managing financial budgets within educational or non-profit organizational settings is strongly preferred.
