Friendship Armstrong Students Spread Kindness One Post-it at a Time

October 9, 2026

Sometimes, the smallest gestures make the biggest impact. At Friendship Armstrong Public Charter School, students are proving that a few encouraging words and a colorful Post-it note can go a long way toward building a kinder, more connected school community. On Friday, Oct. 9, Friendship Armstrong will celebrate National Positive Post-it Day with a schoolwide art installation that turns kindness into a colorful display of student creativity and leadership.

Led by some of the school's visual art students, they will transform an ordinary wall into an extraordinary mural filled with handwritten messages of encouragement, affirmation, and support.

As part of the celebration, our 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Visual Art Majors will be leading the installation of a temporary mural that will cover a wall at Armstrong with positive Post-it notes created by students across the school,” said Friendship Armstrong Art Teacher Monique Simmons.

But this project is about more than creating art. Every classroom will join the celebration, with students writing and exchanging uplifting messages to ensure everyone receives a little encouragement throughout the day. As the notes multiply, so will the mural, creating a powerful visual reminder that every voice matters.

The initiative is inspired by Positive Post-it Day, a global anti-bullying movement launched in 2014 by a Canadian high school student who aimed to replace negativity with encouragement and hope.

At Friendship Armstrong, that message is taking on a life of its own, with students leading the way. And perhaps the most important lesson of all? A few simple words can make someone's entire day. Small Notes + Kindness = Big Impact
