Enrollment Grows, Focus on School Quality Continues

Enrollment increased for public and public charter schools for the sixth consecutive year, according to numbers released by OSSE.  There are 37,684 students enrolled in public charter schools, an increase of 1,119 students. Overall the District’s public school enrollment increased from 82,958 in SY 2013-14 to 85,403 in SY 2014-15 or 3.06%. 

Student enrollment trends for the District’s public charter schools: 

•More students are attending high performing public charter schools

•Charter sector growth is the slowest in history as the board prioritizes school quality over growth 

•First time in history the charter market share has not grown
