DC Public Charter School Board Hosts Information Session on
Charter Application Guidelines
Washington, D.C. — The Public Charter School Board (PCSB) will host another information session for prospective charter school applicants on Wednesday, December 9 – a change from the earlier announced date.  The session will be held at 3333 14th Street, NW, 2nd Floor Conference Room at 6:30 pm.  For more information about the application process, visit the PCSB website at dcpcsb.org.

Last month the PCSB released its 2010 Application Guidelines for establishing a public charter school in the District of Columbia.  The guidelines provide guidance to organizations seeking to apply to open a new charter school or convert a traditional, parochial or private school. The application deadline is February 1, 2010.  Approved schools would be authorized to open in the fall of 2011.

Prospective applicants may download the application guidelines from the Board’s website or come into the PCSB offices to pick up a copy.  For more information about the application process, visit the PCSB website at dcpcsb.org.

The DC Public Charter School Board currently oversees 57 public charter schools on 99 campuses, serving more than 28,000 students living in every ward of the city.  Public charter schools now serve 38% of all public school students in Washington, D.C.
