Student Enrollment

The number of students enrolled in public schools in the District of Columbia increased for the tenth consecutive year, reaching 92,994, according to preliminary data released by the Office of the State Superintendent of Education (OSSE). 

Highlights

  • There are 43,911 PK-12 and adult students enrolled in public charter schools in the 2018-19 school year. This reflects the UPSFF enrollment count, and is the population used for all of the following tables.
  • If you include students whose residency could not be verified, tuition-paying non-resident students, and non-public students, then there are 44,219 students enrolled in public charter schools in 2018-19.
