In partnership with Fight for Children, DC PCSB will host a free half-day conference, Ahead of the Curve: Innovative Approaches to Classroom Management, on October 1 at 8 a.m. to 1:15pm

Principals, teachers, and other instructional leaders are encouraged to attend. The opening keynote address is Brian Mendler, a national recognized educator and speaker with the Teacher Learning Center. Mendler will discuss how educators can inspire motivation for learning among difficult to reach students and explore what leads students to become unmotivated.  He will also provide examples of effective methods that educators can use to help students make better choices.

Other notable speakers include Principal Rhonda Richetta from City Springs Elementary/Middle School, a Baltimore City public charter school, Amy Spiedel from Loving Guidance Inc., and Welford McLellan Jr., Director of Education and Outreach at the Holistic Life Foundation. Each will focus on a variety of practices that can help educators improve classroom management.
