As we celebrate 20 years, here's our progress. In school year 2016-17, 65 nonprofits operate 118 schools that educate students living in every ward in the city, up from three schools in 1996.

The DC public charter schools are public and tuition-free, open to all students, and they do not have selective entrance requirements. They offer District families a wide variety of quality educational choices.

School Equity Reports display a three-year trend of public school students, DCPS and public charter schools, consistently doing better overall. 

The annual EdFEST is this Saturday, December 10, 2016 at the DC Armory. (2001 East Capitol).

The Next Step/El Próximo Paso PCS

Today, we released our citywide public charter quality report for Alternative and Adult Education schools, which shows that schools are steadily improving and preparing adult students for college and the workforce.

Students and staff at several DC Charter Schools took part in various Halloween themed activities. They celebrated the holiday with costume contests, book fairs, and arts festivals.

Today, we released our citywide public charter high school quality report, which shows that schools are steadily improving and preparing students for college and beyond.  

According to unaudited enrollment data released today, 41,784 students are enrolled in DC public charter schools as of October 2016. This is a 7.9% increase from school year 2015-16, when DC public charter schools enrolled 38,905 students.

More students are graduating from high school in four years.
