House Majority Leader Eric Cantor and Former WNBA Star Lisa Leslie Promote School Choice

House Majority Leader Eric Cantor teamed up with four-time Olympic gold medalist and former WNBA star Lisa Leslie this morning to promote school choice at Friendship PCS - Chamberlain Elementary.

Cantor and Leslie spoke to a crowd of students, parents, teachers, and advocates gathered in the school's gymnasium:

"I am delighted to be here and think that the District of Columbia has demonstrated that school choice can work because what it says to your parents is that schools are going to have a report card too," said Leader Cantor, at the "Put Kids First Rally" hosted by the American Federation for Children and 18 other organizations. "If schools aren’t performing they are going to have to correct that performance or they are going to be out of the game because you deserve the best as students in America today. School choice in the District of Columbia is one that really stands out nationally."

“We should do everything in our power to help children receive the very best education possible and that’s why I support educational choice,” Leslie said. “No matter your race, no matter your income, no matter your ZIP code, every child should have every opportunity to attend a quality school of their parents’ choice.”
