Washington, D.C. —The DC Public Charter School Board (PCSB) is accepting public comment on a proposed Data Management Policy. The policy requires schools to enter complete and accurate data in the ProActive data system 30 days from the end of the month for which it was submitted.  After this point, the data will be considered verified and final and schools will not be given an opportunity to change the data, unless under exceptional situations agreed to by PCSB staff.

According to the policy, the verified and final data may be used for various purposes without an additional “data validation window,” including reporting to the DC Council, the Deputy Mayor of Education, the Office of the State Superintendent of Education, the media, the Performance Management Framework, and the PCSB website.  PCSB will continue to notify schools prior to publishing data and will allow schools the opportunity to verify formulas that calculate rates.

If schools fail to maintain current, complete, and accurate attendance and discipline data in ProActive, it could increase the likelihood that the school will undergo an audit under PCSB’s Data Audit Policy and/or receive a Notice of Concern, according to the policy.

The public comment period opens February 26, 2013, and will close on Wednesday March 27, 2013. A public hearing will be held during the board’s monthly meeting on Monday March 18, 2013 at 7:30 p.m. at the DC Public Charter School Board, 3333 14th Street, NW, Washington, DC.

To submit written comments, please email Isoken Igodan, iigodan@dcpcsb.org, or mail them to DC Public Charter School Board, 3333 14th Street, NW, Suite 210, Washington, DC 20010.
