PCSB and DC Public Charter Schools are experiencing a 2 hour delay.

Due to OPM operating on a 2-hour delay, today’s Charter Leaders Meeting has been cancelled.

Families and students will have the opportunity to talk to school representatives at the fair on February 7 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m at THEARC.  

PCSB will be closed in commemoration of Dr. Martin Luther King Day. DC Public Charter Schools and PCSB will celebrate the day by serving others.

Many schools are experiencing delays due to inclement weather.

Many schools will experience a 2-hour delay on Monday January 12.

What a year in 2014--the District's public charter schools made a lot of progress.  

The Office of the State Superintendent of Education selected Jennifer Ramacciotti, a math teacher at KIPP DC AIM Academy PCS, as the District's Teacher of the Year.


Freezing temperatures and ice create school closings and delays this morning.

It's the first snow of the school year!  

Our office is closed Wednesday December 31 and Thursday January 1. 

As part of our oversight of DC public charter schools, PCSB places particular importance on the issue of attendance and truancy.  

Executive Director Scott Pearson sends a letter to the State Board of Educcation about the proposed graduation regulations.  

We thank him for his hard work and dedication to expand access to quality educational choices for DC students and families.  

After learning that the school has engaged in a pattern of fiscal mismanagement by misusing public funds, the Board voted to initiate revocation of the school’s charter.

Under conditions approved by PCSB, school is expected to improve its academic performance.

PCSB's Executive Director Scott Pearson was invited to speak at Mayor-Elect Bowser's Education Public Engagement Forum.  His speech focused on the importance of charter schools providing quality educational choices to families in the District.  

Pearson's remarks (as prepared for delivery):  

"PCSB is DC’s charter school authorizer.  This year we oversee 112 schools run by 61 non-profit organizations that serve more than 38,000 students, or 44% of the public school population, a percentage that has held steady from last year to this year.

The hearing will be held on December 10 at 6:30 p.m. at the school and livestream.   

The new report finds parents believe schools are getting better and more needs to be done to improve the number of high performing schools.  

Students and parents make the choice and the independent My School DC uses a random lottery to fill the available public charter school seats.

Today, the charter school community remembers Marion Barry Jr.'s contribution to the education reform movement in Washington, D.C.
